1. Introducing Rene Webster: Our New General Manager

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Rene Webster as our new General Manager! With years of experience in the relocation and global mobility sectors, Rene brings a wealth of knowledge and a fresh perspective to our team.

Her leadership skills and passion for client service will be instrumental as we continue to grow, enhance our services, and scale our business.  We asked her to share her thoughts on what the future of global mobility looks like in Africa, and this is what she had to say:

“I believe the  global mobility industry will experience notable transformations, especially through mergers and acquisitions in the Destination Service Provider (DSP) sector. Cost pressures on smaller DSPs—due to lower rates and the need for increased investment in compliance and technology—are likely to drive consolidation. Regional players will benefit from this trend by expanding capabilities and staying competitive, while many smaller DSPs may face challenges maintaining independent operations

Sustainability will also take on a larger role in relocation practices. As companies strive to meet Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standards and comply with regulations like Europe’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD), they will need to embed sustainable practices within their supply chains. Service providers will be expected to align with these commitments, ensuring that their operations support carbon reduction and waste management efforts.

Demand for mobility solutions in Africa is expected to increase as businesses expand into emerging markets on the continent. Global companies will focus on talent deployment in Africa to support growth and address talent shortages, particularly in the technology and finance sectors”

Please join us in welcoming Rene to the Relocation Africa family!

2. Leadership and Embodiment Programme

At the beginning of the year, Andrew Stegmann, our Managing Director, set a clear vision for the year: Empowerment. He wanted to ensure that our team was more actively involved in the decision-making process within the business, encouraging everyone to be “participants, not just passengers” on the journey ahead. With this in mind, we launched a bespoke initiative: The Leadership Embodiment Programme.

This tailored approach not only helped to enhance our leadership skills but also reinforced our commitment to empowering our team members to take an active role in shaping the future of Relocation Africa.

Quotes from team members on how the programme has helped them:

“The LEP journey has been meaningful for me personally. By discovering my enneagram and learning about those of the team has been impactful. It has allowed me to understand each person and be able to support them more effectively. I have learned to trust my intuition more and how to lead with empathy.” – Shavanee Singh, Operations Manager

“I was very excited when we were practically introduced to the dialogue concept during one of our in-person workshops. I have subsequently followed and rolled out this different approach to how we have traditionally communicated in team meetings, and it has added so much value to ensuring a collaborative approach where all thoughts, ideas and voices in the room are heard and creatively captured for future reference and this has successfully contributed to a more effective (and fun) rollout of suggested ideas or projects.” – Joy Jackson, Human Resources Manager

3. Our Year in Photos

As we look back on 2024, we’re  filled with gratitude for a year of growth, collaboration and shared successes. This collection of photos showcases some of the highlights:

Collaborations for Mandela Day
Relocation Africa partnered with Princeton Security, a local security provider, to spend 60 minutes giving back to the community, both teams came together to prepare sandwiches and pack fruit for a local charity in need. It was a meaningful way to contribute to the community and make a positive impact in just one hour.

Encouraging Empowerment Through Job Shadowing
As part of our “Year of Empowerment,” our HR Manager, Joy, thoughtfully arranged a  job shadowing experience for Namita, who had the opportunity to spend time with each department, gaining valuable insights into the inner workings of our business. Namita shared, “One thing that amazed me was their kindness. They made me feel as if I belonged to the place, not just giving me a tour around.” We’re proud to offer opportunities like this that help empower and uplift individuals.

Filming for Something Exciting!
We worked with a film production company for a half-day shoot, capturing footage for something special. While we can’t give away too much just yet, we’re excited to share that our team members played an important role in this upcoming video. Stay tuned for its release next year.

Team Building Moments
From dynamic workshops to outdoor adventures, our team-building activities have been a standout highlight this year. These unforgettable experiences sparked collaboration and took our teamwork to new heights!

4. Focus on Namibia

Namibia is a country in Southern Africa with massive potential. As Rene mentioned, demand for mobility solutions in Africa is expected to increase and Namibia in particular has four booming industries that are of great interest to global companies. Not only is Relocation Africa seeing moves into Windhoek we have recently had our first files into Swakopmund.

From managing the home search process, to schooling and opening bank accounts our team coordinated every aspect of the moves with precision and local expertise. This allowed the assignee’s and their families to settle into their new roles and environments  without unnecessary delays or complications, demonstrating our deep understanding of Namibia’s unique operational landscape and commitment to delivering high-quality mobility services in Africa.

Warm Regards
