Immigration to Egypt
A business visitor may enter Egypt under a business visa. However, such visas are for attending meetings and conferences for a limited period. Depending on nationality, business visitors can acquire a Business e-Visa, Visa on Arrival, or a Business Visa from an Egyptian Embassy or Consulate prior to travel.
The maximum period for which a business visitor may remain in Egypt is for 30 days in a single visit. Upon expiration of the business visa, the applicant may apply for renewal for another 30 days.
All foreign nationals seeking employment in Egypt must obtain a Work Permit and Residence Permit. The requirements for a work permit depend on your nationality, on your qualifications, on the nature and duration of your work, and on whether your employer has an entity in Egypt.
Before you apply for a work permit in Egypt, you must already have a job offer. Relating formalities are your employer’s responsibility. These procedures can take several weeks, and even months. The work visa is valid for one year and it is renewable.
A residence visa is needed when an individual will be in Egypt for more than 90 days. This permit is also needed to work or study in the country. Residence visas are issued with the validity of up five years and are renewable.
You can apply for a resident visa at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This visa can be issued within at least a month.
