Home Affairs rubbishes Mkhwebane ‘spy’ claims

Cape Town – The Department of Home Affairs rubbished claims that Public Protector nominee Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane worked for the State Security Agency (SSA) while stationed at the South African embassy in China.

”That’s not true,” department spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete said on Wednesday after the DA dropped the bombshell claim that she had been a spy when posted to China for the department.

”She worked for State Security after working for the Department of Home Affairs,” said Tshwete.

”She never worked for State Security [while with home affairs].”

 Mkhwebane declared her job as an analyst at the SSA in her interview with the parliamentary committee tasked with choosing somebody to succeed outgoing Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.

In the major city of Cape Town, for instance, monthly expenses total just under $400 while the average rent costs are reflected by the typical price to rent a one-bedroom in Durban of around $280 a month.

An app called Awesome South Africa that was launched slightly over  a year ago, allows travelers to locate places and activities for cities around South Africa.

The main feature of the app is using location based data so users can find restaurants, hotels and leisure activities in their immediate vicinity.

Users can expand their search in a 500km radius to find the exact venue or deal they’re looking for.

Vendors are able to list their site on the app for free, but also have the option to advertise specials and promotions in real time to end users.

Some of the cities available on the app include Cape Town, Joburg, Pretoria, Durban, George, Port Elizabeth and Hermanus.
