Please see the directive from the Directorate of Immigration Services (DIS) on the pre-travel visa requirement:-

Directive The DIS is in the process of fully automating the issuance of e-visas.

 

In accordance with the attached directive, any person from a country that require visas to enter Kenya shall be required to apply for and obtain e-visa before traveling. The list of countries whose nationals are eligible to obtain an e-visa can be accessed through http://evisa.go.ke/eligibility.html.

 

The e-visa can be obtained through www.evisa@go.ke.

 

Effective date 1 January 2021

 

Impact on business/residence High

 

  • Travelers will not be allowed to travel to Kenya without an E-Visa

 

  • Applications for visas shall only be done on the online platform

 

  • This services applies to all types of visas, that is :-

a.      single tourist visa;

b.     single entry business visa;

c.      referral visas (RSEV);

d.     transit visas;

e.      courtesy entry visas;

f.       East African tourist visas; and

g.     multiple journey business visas

 

  • Piloting of fast-tracked visas is currently ongoing – we shall update you once this service is launched

 

  • The processing timelines and official fees payable will vary depending on the type of visa

 

  • Delays in the processing of applications should be expected due to system downtime in the initial phase

 

  • Increased lead time – we recommend that applications for e-Visas should be made at least 7 – 14 working days before travel

 

  • Once issued, the  e-Visas should be printed in color and presented at the port of entry on arrival

The South African Minister of Home Affairs, Aaron Motsoaledi, has announced a temporary concession granted to intra-company transfer visa holders who are currently residing in South Africa. This allows them another 24-month term for their visas.

This waiver is applicable to holders of ICT visas that expired during the lockdown, including the current period and to those which will expire by 31 June 2021; subject to the following conditions:

  • Proof that the local entity, branch or affiliate of the company abroad still requires the services of the ICT visa holder;
  • Proof in the form of verifiable documents that the skill transfer to a South African or Permanent Residence was completed during the fours (4) years of the visas as per the initial undertaking;
  • The ICT visa application will be considered as a new application with no accumulation nor continuation of the validity period of the current visa;
  • The ICT visa shall not lead towards permanent residence; and that
  • The ICT holder will remain in the employment of the designated employer for whom the initial and current ICT visa was issued.
  • No change of employer, status or condition from current visa.

This temporary visa concession is only applicable to holders of legally issued intra-company visas and who are currently resident in the Republic during the lockdown. Any further extension or modification or amendments to the terms of this concession will only be valid if communicated in writing.

As per the VFS South Africa website, as of Tuesday 22 September 2020, visa services have resumed at all Visa Facilitation Centres in South Africa.

All categories of temporary residence visas, including applications of waivers of the prescribed requirement, will be accepted. The resumption of other immigration related applications will be phased in over a period of time.

Please note that adherence to all COVID -19 health protocols at all VFS centres are mandatory.
